Hello. I ran into a problem - some chickens stopped growing, please help with advice.
For about 20 years he has been breeding laying hens, broilers, geese, ducks and other poultry. Our expert who is always happy to help readers.
For the growth of chickens, the start is very important. If daily birds are bought and from the first days there is a complete balance in their diet, then the weight doubles further. If the diet is poor, there is no growth.
For intensive growth, high-energy feeds are needed, with the optimal amount of fats, carbohydrates and proteins. When growing on compound feed, you should choose those that are intended for the age group and switch to others in time (start, fattening, finish).
What to do
If chickens grow poorly, you need to optimize the diet. To do this, you should transfer the bird from raw grain to boiled (porridge). This technique will increase digestibility, and the bird will gain weight. To prepare a nutritious porridge, proceed as follows:
- In boiling, salted water, pour the grain mixture, consisting of wheat, barley and corn grits;
- Add a spoonful of pork fat and mix thoroughly;
- As soon as the "porridge" absorbs all the water, we stop heating;
- In the hot mixture, add bean waste (broken peas, pea flour or flour 5% of the mixture);
- Add meat and bone meal 0.5% of the mixture or slaughterhouse waste (you can first bring to a boil and cook porridge on this broth).
It should be remembered that in order for chickens to grow faster, you cannot save feed. Only constant access to cereals will ensure the intensity of growth.
If they are sick
It happens that chickens eat food well, but there is no growth. In this case, helminthic invasion should be suspected. The most common disease is chicken ascariasis.
For prophylactic purposes, you can give the drug "albendazole" in a mixture with food, two days in a row according to the instructions for the drug.
